Rural Women Society (RWS) is a registered, grassroots non-profit organization based in Tuensang, Nagaland, working with unwavering commitment to uplift the most marginalized sections of society—especially women, children, and the elderly in rural and tribal areas. Established on 6th July 2015, RWS has grown into a vibrant force for social transformation and inclusive development across Nagaland.

Our work is driven by the belief that sustainable progress begins with empowered women and self-reliant communities. Over the years, we have implemented programs that address the root causes of poverty, illiteracy, gender inequality, and social neglect—while promoting health, education, livelihoods, and dignity for all.

    Promote gender equality, leadership, and income generation opportunities for rural and tribal women through skills training, capacity building, and support networks.

  • 📚 Education

    Support children’s education by providing literacy programs, school supplies, scholarships, and awareness on child rights and protection.

    Organize medical camps, maternal health awareness drives, and facilitate access to basic health services in underserved areas.

    Operate and manage an old age home that provides shelter, medical assistance, emotional care, and dignity to abandoned or destitute elderly persons.

    Conduct workshops and campaigns to inform women and marginalized groups about their legal rights, entitlements, and government schemes, empowering them to address issues of discrimination, violence, and injustice.

General Aims & Objectives

General Aims & Objectives

The aims and objectives of the Rural Women Society will be as follows:

  • The Rural Women Society endeavors to undertake various Child Welfare Programme and Women Welfare Programme.

  • To established Children Home/Shelter Home/ Adoption Home/After Care Home for abused runway, street and orphaned children and to rehabilitate them.

  • To provide facilities for the people living under poverty line in the field of weaving & handcraft line, tailoring line, knitting and embroidery works, piggery and fish farming, horticulture and other small farming business like road side hotels and restaurants.

  • o create an awareness on child welfare by conducting seminar and workshop.

  • To vigorously work for the upliftment of destitute neglected and exploited children by rehabilitation and counseling and also by providing vocational training and school education.

  • To providing awareness programme through capacity building dissemination of information advocacy and networking. To provide support and give counseling and referral service to women and her children infected with HIV/AIDS.

  • To support activities which are in consonance with the mandate of the Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment Govt. of India undertaking various scheme on social welfare, family welfare, aged person welfare and women & child welfare activities in the people's interest and any Ministry /Dept. under Govt. of India or Govt. of Nagaland for taking up any kind of social welfare activities which will improve the economic status of the poor people who are living under below poverty level.

  • To promote and encourage mass literacy programmes with special emphasis on education for the girl child by running schools, coaching centres, adult education programme in the villages and awarding to the bright and deserving child merit scholarship to purpose higher education and join competitive examination.

  • To set up counseling centres to educate the families and in particular to young boys and girls.

  • To conduct Dhai training in the villages to give expertise knowledge and skills to the local women to assist and help those women during delivery to ensure safe delivery and safe motherhood and child survival.

  • To set up child day care center (creache) to enable the working mothers to earn property and Hostel building for working women with a day care centre.

  • To create an awareness among the villagers of the importance of village & small scale industries and to educate the people about the importance of forests preservation and plantations establishment of nutritional gardens in rural areas for getting continuous supply of food, fruits, fodder, bamboo, firewood and small timbers.

  • To set up a training centre for the drop-out students/underage group or poor children and child labour by providing them various technical knowledge for their future employment/self-employment as well as to acquaint the dignity labour.

  • To provide care and give appropriate attention to the and handicapped children and women providing them with proper accommodation and care to fulfill equal opportunity to such people.

  • To undertake various welfare and socio-economic activities in the area and to promote the economic status of women, orphans etc. of low income group families by creating employment opportunities.

  • To take up health programmes which will promote the condition of women, children, disabled and the general population.

  • To take up welfare activities to enable needy women and children to earn a living of their own.

  • To provide financial assistance to the vocational trainees, boys and girls, women, widows with the help of Government aid for rural & urban area through welfare schemes in order to uplift them and over all rural & urban development.

  • To establish and construct working women hostel, short stay home for destitute and to managing these institutions for the welfare of the community irrespective of cast, creed and religion.

  • To create sports infrastructure to develop and popularize games & sports in Nagaland by providing proper facilities, encourage, motivate to youth and local children to make them fit and strong to qualify as well as to compete state and national level of games & sports meet and tournaments etc.

  • To organize rural care programme, AIDS control programne, cancer control programme, with special emphasis on prevention of communicated diseases for the benefit of all and to run-old-age home, day care centre, shelter home with all infrastructure in respect of medical recreation and nursing facilities for aged senior citizens.

  • The society also extend loan facility to the deserving loanee after observing the society rules and regulations after executing loan agreement,

  • To take up undertake social forestry development and scheme on national Afforestation Environment Development and Protection.
