A New Initiative by Rural Women Society, Tuensang, Nagaland
Rural Women Society is proud to announce the successful launch of one of its most compassionate and long-awaited initiatives — an Old Age Home established under a government-supported project. This home stands as a sanctuary of care, dignity, and companionship for the elderly who have no one to care for them or are facing neglect in their twilight years.

In many rural and tribal communities of Nagaland, older persons—especially widows, childless individuals, or those abandoned by families—suffer in silence. With little or no access to healthcare, financial support, or emotional security, their lives often become isolated and vulnerable.
Understanding this growing concern, Rural Women Society took the initiative to open a dedicated Old Age Home to provide shelter, care, and dignity to our forgotten elders.
The Old Age Home is fully operational and provides the following essential services to its residents:
Safe Residential Accommodation with proper bedding and hygienic living conditions
Nutritious Meals and Regular Health Checkups under the supervision of trained staff
Emotional Support and Companionship through group activities and counseling
Recreation & Engagement with storytelling, folk music, gardening, prayer groups, and more
Assistance with Daily Living for elders with physical or mobility challenges
Healthcare Access and Referrals to hospitals or clinics when needed
Respectful and Inclusive Environment regardless of caste, religion, or background
This project is not just about shelter—it is about restoring dignity to the lives of elders. The home is run by compassionate caregivers, social workers, and volunteers who treat every resident like family. It is a place of peace, community, and belonging, where elderly citizens are not just looked after, but loved, respected, and heard.
The Old Age Home is currently supported through a scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India/Nagaland and is implemented by Rural Women Society with community participation and local volunteer support.
